The man was rushed to hospital after fainting at the Fukushima nuclear power plant. He was in his 60s. So reported the news agency Jiji Press as reported by AFP on Saturday (05/14/2011).
Earlier, a spokesman for TEPCO (Tokyo Electric Power Co.) confirmed that the worker was in serious condition. But he could not confirm the death of the worker. But the spokesman said, workers were not exposed to radiation.
"It's been confirmed he is not contaminated with radiation," TEPCO spokesman Shotaro Okawara.
He said the incident occurred when an unnamed worker was carrying equipment into the facility to treat contaminated water that is released from the Fukushima nuclear power plant reactor.
TEPCO workers today continue to work to prevent nuclear disaster at the Fukushima nuclear power plant. The nuclear power plant damaged by an earthquake and massive tsunami that struck Japan on 11 March.
