NEW YORK - Online Filesharing Service Site LimeWire, agreed to pay the claims amounted to USD105 million, to settle the case, which accused them as a platform untukpembajakan music.
Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) said that in New York court determined how much Lime Wire has to pay for infringement of copyright they are doing. Similarly, as quoted by Bangkok Post on Saturday (05/14/2011).
"LimeWire is designed and operated to take advantage of the music industry," said Mitch Bainwol, chief executive of the RIAA.
"The results of this case is one of achievement for the music industry," he added.
LimeWire.com closed by federal court United States (U.S.) in October 2010, after receiving the demands from the world of the music industry.
"We are very pleased with the decision of this court, because LimeWire founder Mark Gorton and exposed to claims of copyright infringement," said Bainwol.
"LimeWire cause major damage to the music industry, causing many employees lost their jobs and musicians increasingly difficult to rise to the surface," she says.
LimeWire software was released in August 2000 and using P2P technology that allows users to share music or other files on the internet.
LimeWire is owned by Lime Group, a New York-based company.
