Relatives Baby T-Rex Found in Mongolia

NEW YORK - Scientists conducting excavations in the Gobi Desert, Mongolia, has found a nearly complete skeleton of a baby dinosaur species tyrannosaurid who were aged 3 years.

Fossilized dinosaur baby is the smallest ever found before.
Dinosaur named Tarbosaurus bataar is still a relative of the Tyrannosaurus Rex. Similarly, as quoted from The New York Times, Tuesday (10/05/2011).

Specimens baby weighs less than 70 pounds, compared with a weight of 6 tons of which is owned by Tarbosaurus bataar adults, according to a report published in the Journal of Vertebrate Paleontology.

The skull of Tarbosaurus bataar have strong bones, especially in the jaw, which allows him to rip and play the prey. But for babies, softer bataar Tarbosaurus skull, teeth are also much thinner and his jaw is still weak.

Instructions from the fossil shows that Tarbosaurus bataar foraging by stealing it, in contrast to a more Tarbosaurus bataar relies on the power. Tarbosaurus bataar change his diet when growing up, unlike other types of predatory dinosaurs.

"This discovery is an illustration Tarbosaurus bataar closest we've seen so far," said Lawrence M. Witmer, Professor of Paleontology of the Ohio University, senior author for the study.

"This fossil also provides a description of Tarbosaurus bataar lifestyle change when they grow up," he added.
