Rice is Healthier Than Bread
SEOUL - Be happy if you'd like to eat rice instead of bread. The reason, according to the study of Korea Food Research Institute (KFRI), rice allows a person to exercise 50 percent longer than bread.
Not only that, rice is also more effective to reduce cholesterol levels in the body. Thus the results of studies that reported by Straits Times, Wednesday (05/11/2011).
In this study, KFRI perform tests to compare students' endurance exercise after eating bread or rice. The result, after eating rice, they have an average exercise duration of 456 seconds, with a margin of error of 58.3 seconds. Compare with the average duration of 311 seconds (41.9 seconds margin of error) if they eat bread before workout.
Not only that, the researchers also analyzed how the rice and bread affect blood cholesterol levels in hamsters with high cholesterol levels.
As a result, within eight weeks, hamsters were consuming rice showed reduced levels of fat and cholesterol.
"We observed that the rice could reduce the DNA that make up fat and increase metabolism and DNA-forming DNA is degrading,"explains KFRI.
