NEW YORK, Tekertin.com - The leader of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) which also has the potential to become a candidate for president of France asked to get off the plane when he was about to fly to Paris and questioned by police related to reports of sexual harassment against an employee of the hotel.
Dominique Strauss-Kahn is derived from an Air France plane at John F. International Airport Kennedy by officers from the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. As a former economics professor, Strauss-Kahn joined the Socialist Party in 1976 and was appointed a member of parliament in 1986 representing the district of Val-d'Oise, north of Paris. He later became mayor of Sarcelles, a working class immigrant suburb of Paris.
His first position in government was as Minister of Industry under former President Francois Mitterrand. As finance minister, he reduced France's debt payments through privatization, including selling shares in France Telecom SA and Air France.
Strauss-Kahn is the father of four children. His third wife, Anne Sinclair, a former television presenter.
