Kuala Lumpur - The era of broadband access network based on Internet protocol (IP) has really begun. In the next five years even estimated 183 million new connections that will be built around the world.

"A total of 186.3 million IP-based connections will be built from 2011 until 2015, when 71.6 million of which were built in Asia Pacific," said senior analyst with Heavy Reading market intelligence, Jim Hodges, the Broadband Transformation Summit 2011, in Mandarin Oriental Hotel, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on Wednesday (11/05/2011).

According to him, one that triggers the growth of broadband services in addition to Internet access is a paid television service through the medium of the Internet (IPTV). "IPTV service in Asia Pacific grew double-digits every year,"added Hodges.

For other countries in Asia Pacific, the IPTV service has become one of their biggest income. For example, China Telecom, Telekom Malaysia, Telstra Australia, and PLDT Philippines. Steps to organize IPTV Telkom has also begun to follow in its efforts to revitalize the telephone cables that had long stagnated growth.
